#1215 - Boiler Water Treatment Practice

Course Objective

Upon completion of this course, attendees will be able to:

Who Should Attend?

Engineers, managers, and others who are responsible for the process and equipment design and design review of utility systems. Utility operators and technical contact engineers responsible for the operation of a steam plant.

Course Description

This course is divided into two major segments. Segment one discusses the treatment of the boiler makeup water and is called “External Treatment.” The treated boiler makeup water is blended with the returned steam condensate in the deaerator to provide the boiler feedwater.

Segment two discusses the treatment of the boiler feedwater and the boiler water and is called “Internal Treatment.” Chemicals are added to prevent scale and corrosion problems. The sequential process steps given in this course should be followed to prepare a design specification or to evaluate an existing water treating system for steam generation. Help in solving operating problems will also be found in each of these steps.

This is an innovative design program and well worth the effort.
