Course Description

This practical, applications-oriented course describes the scope of the ASME Code Section VIII Division 2. It also highlights the primary differences between Division 1 and Division 2 and typical situations where Division 2 is used instead of Division 1. The course concentrates on the primary analytical requirements of Division 2 rather than attempting to cover all of Division 2. It discusses application of Appendices 4 and 5 to typical pressure vessel design situations, when the use of these Appendices is appropriate, and the appropriate use of the simpler calculation procedures contained in the base Code. In addition to Division 2, WRC Bulletin 429 and other industry practices are used where applicable. Sample problems and participant exercises are included where appropriate. The following provides an overall outline of the course.
